Three stand alone evenings with repeated and night specific performances to honor the Dark Fae and Repressed Feminine
The Scorpio New Moon Concert Series is intended as ceremonial preparation of entering the Scorpio New Moon Portal, which occurs on November 8th at 11:02 pm.
This Concert Series is will feature songs both ancient and original, weaving polyphonic tapestries to honor the seasons and cycles. Dancers, poets and actors will feature experimental and personal pieces in a variety of group and solo performances throughout. Focusing on New Moon energetics and the impending darkness of the winter season, performances aim to unveil and integrate the hidden parts self, ranging from wild and feral to clean and precise.
Repeated Performances on all Three Nights:
Shiny
An original skit performed my Koby McConnell and Ayla Realta, “Shiny” is their embodiment of a Forest Faerie and a Goblin. They express frenetic whimsy, joy, and trauma experiences through non-verbal speech, singing, keening, screaming, and feral movements.
Small Group Earth Women
Members of Earth Women will share a variety of ancient and original songs, with feral vocalizing in small group performances of 3-5 singers.
Song titles include “Ederlezi”, “Questions for Baba Yaga”, “Go Down Moses”, and “Savage Daughter”.
Trio of Throat Singers
Mark vanWeerd, Hank Peterson, and Koby McConnell improv various forms of throat singing to channel the sounds of the deep earth and high mountains. Their hats and ensemble are handmade by Mark vanWeerd.
Jennie Marie
Jennie Marie will be dancing to live singing all three nights.
Originally from the wild coast of California, and now residing in the temperate rainforest of the Pacific Northwest, Jennie Marie comes to share her heart that has been dedicated to fusion belly dance for the last 11 years. Dance has been the core force of challenge and purpose in her life through this last decade... And also a dear friend to write poetry with in the dead of night.

Friday, November 6th
Wind and Rain
A trio of Earth Women members, Ali Pullen, Kendall Renee Eby, and Sarah Rayne, will perform “Wind and Rain”. An Irish folksong telling the story of a troubled relationship between two sisters, and a tragic betrayal.
Saturday, November 7th
Izgrela Mi
Earth Women, as a full choir, will perform Bulgarian song Izgrela Mi. This song tells the story of the rising moon over the forest, illuminating two little girls. The repeated line in this song translates as “But they were not actually little girls, they were Samodivi.” Samodivi are fearsome forest spirits known for their power to heal and nurture AND their power to create chaos and destruction.
Sunday, November 8th
Clear Cuts
Witch Crystal, a two piece music project by Koby McConnell and Ayla Realta, will perform their song Clear Cuts, which speaks to the experience of witnessing the innocent die. Specifically, the tree and animal people who have been slaughtered to meet humanity’s endless demands of consumerism.
Homage to Lilith
This original skit by Kudra Fletcher is a dynamic take on the story of Lilith and Adam, told through dance, poetry, song and wild embodiment.
Lilith: Beloved Mother of the Exiles. Queen of the Outcasts. Guardian of the wound. Liberator of all. Vilified and disgraced by the patriarchal world, she dwells in the subterranean realm within each of us, holding sacred our unconscious primal power until we are ready to be initiated. It is then that she comes as Dark Night of the Soul, leading us into a deeper relationship with our truth and ourselves. Long have her legends been suppressed. Long has her wisdom been devalued and discarded. Not anymore. Lilith is here and she walks among us.

Performers call upon the Dark Fae- the spirits that are not particularly polite or palatable, but rather honest and chaotic catalysts. These creatures and spirits are essential for revealing truth. They demand confrontation and integration, and reject the false peace of toxic positivity and bypassing.
Related to the Dark Fae is the Repressed Feminine- the social conditioning that harms us all by insisting we remain small in our expression of self. This conditioning keeps us ashamed of our softness, sadness and silliness. These are all vital parts of the human that must be honored and accepted, or they may become bitter and caustic within us. The consequences of repressing the feminine are not only devastating, but existential. We cannot exist without it.
